English Alpine Triple Podium

A top three result in Super-G, GS and Slalom meant I was on the podium for all three disciplines at this year’s English Alpine Championships in Bormio, Italy.

In the opening Super-G the top three were separated by less than 0.8 of a second with Angus Wills and Nathan Breese taking first and second spots. English Alpine GS
My third place was good for a top 10 place overall and ahead of some solid U16 skiers. The GS was equally close, just over half a second from the top spot secured second place in a field of nearly 60 racers. Slalom on the last day of racing was looking promising after run 1 with first place and a half-second advantage. Last out of the gate in run 2 onto a rutted and icy course was always going to be a challenge. Two mistakes in the middle section meant that Angus managed to overturn my lead, I picked up another second place with my brother Harry winning a bronze medal in third place.

Two silvers and a bronze meant my points total was good for second overall and another prize which were great this year thanks to Rossignol as primary event sponsors alongside my other sponsors: Ski Bitz and Ski Barlett.

I only have three race events left this season: the Inter Schools’ in Les Houches in mid-March, a trip to Abetone in Italy for an International FIS race on 22 and 23 March anSecond Overalld finally the British Championships in Meribel in early April. Let’s hope the snow is good and the weather is cold.
